Hikari as her name might suggest, is generally a super boisterous, super cheerful person with enough energy to fuel the planet. She is constantly on the move, playing sports, chatting with friends, strangers, helping others etc. But because of her short attention span, she doesn’t like to wait and finds it hard to stay focused in class. This is reflected in her irregular grades. Only when she is interested or curious that she puts her full power into the task. This curiosity can be handy when meeting new people and trying new things but it can get her into a lot of trouble. Hikari is constantly sticking her nose into other people’s business without their consent.

When she does something wrong is is confronted, sometimes she can be very defensive. She either doesn’t she what she did wrong or stubbornly refuses to apologise. She becomes very upset and angry, once annoyed, she can be very hard to calm down. If she gets mad enough, she can become violent. Her temper clouds her mind, disregarding important factors in the situation. When she has something to say, she’ll shout it out to the whole world. Although she acts tough, she can be sensitive to comments mostly about her appearance/actions. She knows she has a boyish attitude and feels insecure about it when people point it out. She generally laughs it off but if she feels that the comment has any layer of harshness, she would be deeply hurt.

History:
Hikari is the youngest of the three Yamada siblings. She has two older brothers, both studying in university. Though she was born and raised in Sugigawa’s centre, Naharishio, during the holidays her brothers and herself would live in Yubinami where most of the other Yamadas reside. Most of her relatives are farmers, being one of the earlier settlers in the past. Hikari loved help out in the rice paddies and orchards, running through the plantations was her childhood passion. This was when her somewhat boyish personality developed and as a kid, it didn’t really pose a problem with herself and the other children in her school.

But during her last years of primary school and the beginning of middle schools, things definitely took the a bad turn for her. She was often teased behind her back about how she was always dirty from running around and how boyish she looked with her short hair (her early growth spurt didn’t help either). The other boys also began to refused to play with her because she was a girl. Being isolated like that, she was very confused. She thought endlessly about this puzzling feelings, digging a deep hole for herself. Hikari was still fine though because of a handful of friends that stuck by her side. But on a hot summer day during her 2nd year in Middle school, all her bottled up emotions burst out. She had just been out running around when she spotted her friend who was carefully holding onto a towel. Being quite sweaty, she walked over and grabbed it to wipe her face before throwing it back with a thanks. Her friend was outraged since it was for the boy she liked. “Why do you have to be so dirty!?” That one comment hit her cord, hard. It become a full blown argument that led to her slapping her friend’s face. After that incident she became even more alone than ever.

Her insecurities about her appearance grew but after hurting her friend, her determination to become better at handling them increased. Before she entered her first year of high school, she got hair extensions and bought a few more girlier items of clothing. Though it helped a little, it never did silence the uneasiness inside herself nor did it stop her hot temper. Even now she yearned for to get rid the pain of her sensitivity, a way to make herself stop hurting the people she held dear.

Other:
-->Regularly attended a kendo dojo until her second year of middle school. Still frequents the dojo sometimes.

-->Commander is Hikari’s inner desire to become her own ruler, controlling her emotions and protecting the people she loves. Under her cape, she hides her misery caused by her insecurities while her skirt flickers red hot anger best kept out of sight. Though Hikari is strong physically in real life, she runs away from her problems and Commander reflects that.
